Video Editing: International Rescue Committee
At the IRC, I had the privilege of supporting one of the world’s most respected humanitarian organizations. I contributed to video storytelling that highlighted the resilience of communities affected by conflict and crisis. My work helped bring greater visibility to the experiences of women and girls navigating displacement, violence, and recovery.
Setup & context
I joined the IRC as a Video Assistant during a pivotal time, supporting post-production efforts for communications content across global initiatives. My work involved editing video projects, managing digital assets, and supporting campaigns that addressed humanitarian crises in over 40 countries.
The challenge & problem PROCESS
The IRC needed to translate complex humanitarian issues into accessible and emotionally resonant stories for global audiences. I collaborated with the Social Media and Communications teams to organize and archive footage, caption interviews, and prepare video assets for multi-platform distribution. One of my most meaningful assignments was supporting Vision Not Victim—a powerful initiative uplifting the dreams of Syrian refugee girls. I edited a teaser trailer for the project, curated images, screened interview footage, assisted the photographer and lead editor throughout the production process, and wrote an article on my experience.
impact & results
Through meticulous editing and storytelling support, I helped produce multimedia content that centered the lived experiences of young girls envisioning hopeful futures in the face of adversity. My work on Vision Not Victim not only amplified these stories but also reinforced the IRC’s commitment to addressing the unique needs of women and girls in crisis zones. From subtitling interviews to editing video content on emergencies like the Ebola outbreak and Nepal earthquake, I contributed to a body of work that informed, inspired, and mobilized audiences worldwide.
